The photo at left shows the Wall of Honor located in the Big Spring Mall, next to the entrance to Sears.  The 200-plus pictures on the wall are men and women from the Big Spring area, or who have loved ones here, who are currently serving in the US Military, or who have served since the terrorist attack on the New York World Trade Center in 2001.

This article proposes to introduce a regular feature in the Herald highlighting the serving troops and veterans of the Big Spring area.  The photos from the Wall of Honor will be used frequently used in these articles.

Sgt. Shannon White recently returned home from Iraq, where she was a motor sergeant at a base frequently under fire. She is now at Fort Hood, but intends to make a career of it. She is appropriately pictured here in one of the Humvee's she managed. This Big Spring native recently married, and this picture with her new name replaced one taken when she was Shannon McCarty Horne. Her aunt, who supplied the picture, is Gaylon Beevers of Big Spring.

To add pictures to the Wall of Honor, check the first paragraph above to see if they qualify, and either email the picture, or leave a print with the staff at Sears or at the Herald.
